What is the "next-gen" driver? The PostgreSQL Web site is rather focused on the core server distribution and even things like the official JDBC driver(s) aren't easy to find. I suspect that the same behavior would be reflected, though.

I'd like to suggest converting this to a documentation issue, since there's a feasible means for making it work, but it's nonobvious.
