We can't reliably fail fast because in most cases we don't know the corpus of constraints and constrained objects to work on (in general).

So the question is should you be able to validate a method if another method is incorrect for a given class (hierarchy)?

I like the idea of not failing and be resilient. But that means that one method could work while the metadata API fails. That feels weird.
