I agree with you Steve, H2 is clumsy is this particular point. I just wanted to mean that the dialect is a good place to compromise with everything required to make Hibernate works on the target DBMS, even if it's a workaround on a bug that the DBMS maintainer ignore/won't fix/whatever.
