I personally prefer the singular forms for tags, because I think of a sentence like:
this post is about a release, an event and Hibernate OGM

"Releases" sounds more generic, like how we should release when we build a project.

If we are talking about having a restful URL with the list of releases, than "releases" make more sense.

This is just a personal preference, though. Not really a strong opinion
