I started to work on it yesterday. Still trying to have the most self contained test case possible (we don't use merge in our app so there's something else triggering it).
I'll play with it this week-end (have some other work to do at my day job) so you should have a pull request by sunday evening.
It would be nice to include this one in 4.1.10.
