On the MassIndexer, consider that both the ORM and Infinispan integrations provide the "concept" but both implementation and APIs are highly custom.
What we would need is to provide a reasonable SPI and documentation on how to stream the flow of data efficiently to the backend. I believe the SPI is in place already, but could be better.
