Johannes Martin when you say 3.2.4.sp1 which specific artifact are you talking about? Because I went back as far as hibernate-entitymanager 3.2.0.ga which uses hibernate-core 3.2.0 and I still see the error. In fact so far I have not been able to find a hibernate-entitymanager/hibernate-core combo where this does not happen.
