Vlad Mihalcea I can confirm the PR in https://github.com/hibernate/hibernate-orm/pull/2363 works OK with JDK 8 and fails with JDK 9, even with current master.

I haven't taken a closer look to what the test does exactly but it sure looks odd. Could you take another look now that we have a reproducible test case?
