Frankly the easiest solution for you is to:

clone and fork https://github.com/beanvalidation/beanvalidation-api
get the list of commits fixing the issue git log --grep ~~BVAL-298~~
create a branch off 1.0.0.GA
cherry pick or apply the relevant changes

Then swap the validation-api jar with this new one. Added bonus, you can proposed a PR and we will apply your changes in the main repo too.
