Sorry, the term 'unconsistent' was a poor word choice.
'Non-Transparency' might describe the problem better.
What I meant is following:
Enabling the 2L-Cache should be transparent to the user and not change anything in behavior except performance.
It is not 'consistent' having suddenly rising up ClassCastExceptions just by enabling 2L-Cache.
