in pom.xml

It'll take me quite some time to wire up a test-case without using my way of wiring things (and Spring's test-classes). Are you also saying that using JPA is uncool and I should use pure Hibernate?

It will help me help you if you could provide a test-case (complete with pom.xml and all) for this issue "your way" so that I can use that as a template for future test-cases.
