I never mentioned changing your mappings. I simply pointed you to the release announcement and migration guide that mention the change in how identifiers are mapped, and the statement that if you run into problems stemming from that change that disabling (setting false) the hibernate.id.new_generator_mappings setting will likely resolve the problem as a workaround. Changing a single setting as a workaround hardly seems :expensive", but YMMV.
