Not going to apply this pull request for now. Due to the fact that the annotation are not of the annotation processor, the processor needs to be added as a dependency. None of the maven scopes makes sense for this though. One would need a compile_only scope which does not propagate the dependencies to users of HV.
Given that there is no real benefit in the upgrade we stick to 3.1.2.GA.
