Gunnar: are you referring to javadocs navigation? we could improve on that by not publishing the javadocs for impl.
As an API and SPI consumer I agree with Emmanuel.
If you where to make things
even more API consumer friendly we could keep the current source tree structure but provide splitted jars: this way people could verify compilation against the chosen layer. Not Maven friendly however :-\
