Perhaps, but when using JPA the exception would get wrapped into JPA permissible exceptions. Its very similar to how Hibernate has a TransientObjectException but we have to expose that as an IllegalArgumentException in the scope of JPA. The same would hold true for any other custom exception type, if that makes sense.
