Thanks for looking into this. You are right, you need a test case, please see the zip file attached.

If you switch the version of hibernate (see the pom.xml for the EAR module) to 4.3.11.Final the application works flawlessly, if you switch that to 5.0.1.Final, it will fail with the error above (different trace of course).
