I'm a bit of a newb (both with Hibernate and generally Java persistence), and having a hard time answering the following questions:
a) Should I open a new issues, because my case seems not to be the same as the original one. I actually get a whole bouquet of different exceptions trying to execute pg_notify through different calls.

b) What is the desired behavior? I have gathered a few cases, but I am unsure about whether I'm doing things right and not missing something, and which of those cases, that are not working, should be working (if any). This is further complicated by some of the exceptions originating from the postgres driver, where I am even less sure about whether it is a user error, a hibernate bug, or a bug in the driver.
If anyone with more experience could look over these and determine which of them should be working that'd be great:
