What do you mean? I think we just need to pick one and stick with it. Both solution are good and I don't expect a battle to choose one over the other. Spelling the month eliminates any other source of confusion.
Also, I don't remember any blog showing the year before the month and the day.
I personally prefer 7 Jul 2014 but looking around it seems the preference goes for Month Day, year. Example: Jan 7, 2014
