Its a rhetorical question. It is simply not feasible to know all possible keys - Hibernate is not even the direct consumer of all the values set as properties, some are simply consumed by the various components you asked it to use (cache provider, connection pool, etc).

This is not really even Hibernate specific. I have never seen a library that errors or even warns the way you expect. Contributions welcome though if you feel this is important.
