Sorry Marc Schipperheyn but without having the indexed class exactly how it was when the index got created, to we can't be sure of the path, for example say you had sharding enabled originally, the paths would not be a straight forward guess even if we were to ask for the 'indexName' explicitly.

As someone who did the refactoring you're in a much better position to do the right thing, and as a user I wouldn't like using a library which deletes some path with a "fingers crossed" strategy.
