As of 2014-07-06, the test CompositeUserTypeTest as modified by the OP still fail in branch 4.2. I tried to run it on branch 4.3 and master too, but failed to do so (hibernate-core compilation failed on 4.3 and CompositeUserTypeTest was reported as containing no tests on master).

See attached a patch to add this new test (credits goes to the OP, I merely copied its modifications to the source tree and ran git diff).
