I just build with OpenJDK on Mac and it worked fine. I was using:

openjdk version "1.7.0-b147"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-b147-20111031)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 21.0-b17, mixed mode)

You might have an quite old JDK. Have you tried upgrading the JDK?
