As far as we know this is not a regression. A regression would indicate that it behaves differently from a previous version. As far as we know older versions of Hibernate did not recognize this non-standard MariaDB table type value. Therefore this could not be a regression. We believe the MariaDB driver is simply wrong here. Granted the JDBC spec allows some level of freeform-ness in this value. But MariaDB is returning a non-standard value, and we think its reasonable that that leads to non-standard results in clients (such as Hibernate). I see 2 options:
- Reject this as a problem in the MariaDB driver
- Reclassify this as an enhancement to allow Hibernate to recognize such non-standard table type values as being a physical table.
