I am going to merge this as an component upgrade. Not sure why it does not work for your particular JDK 8 version. Maybe you can record it for the records. I am using Oracles JDK version '1.8.0_45'.

Regarding the exception, the failures with Java 9 still persist and are actually already tracked in HV-1051.
