Don't think this is correct.
Although behavior of not having time is consistent now, but the result is not.
I have a local date stored somewhere and although it is kind of useless it is assumed to be in a UTC chronology. So i try to retrieve it and i end up with CEST, which is inconvenient but nevertheless fine as long as it's correctly converted. Now i end up with an incorrect value.
Trimming of the time fields must happen before converting the calendar instance to the VM timezone.
This changes puts the burden of checking the chronology unto the users of Hibernate :/
I can understand your change to some degree, but i guess this will pop up again.
