Yeah for those of us who work on multiple projects, it's probably better to have an checkstyle rule executed on compile time. That way there's no issue with codestyle discrepancies. 

Speaking of codestyle, IntelliJ now reads an XML format to import a code-style. If someone who uses IntelliJ can export their setup, I'll update the wiki and add it to the codebase instead of the current .jar file.

You could add a checkstyle rule to verify there is no copyright on any file;
that will help in short term during rebase but also in the longer term
as I do have IDE templates setup for other projects.. I'm often afraid
to mix them up ;-)
