I don't know yet. I agree that it would be nice. Besides increasing the size of the AS7 download, there are lots of non-technical considerations as well.

Definitely. But I don't think it will be a system property. My plan is to add a management option to the JSF subsystem. So you will be able to set this in XML and/or via CLI.
