Your problem is probably your client classpath.
Also, you need to establish a basepoint. By jumping between JBoss and JDK versions you will only succeed in driving yourself crazy.
Unfortunately, I cannot help you with JDK6. I can give you some very specific help if you can work with JDK5 and JBoss 4.2.3.GA.
