Actually, it gives me part of the answer. After creating the knowledge base and load the process definition into memory, they mentioned that "This knowledge base is used to look up the process definitions whenever necessary."
What do they mean by "Whenever necessary"?
The engine will look at the process sequence in memory, how it will know that the process is changed in the filesystem?
