jBPM is a workflow engine whereas Drools is a rule engine. As announced in the Enterprise BPM blog back in April, jBPM and Drools Flow will be merged in the project we call jBPM 5. There is aroadmap proposed for jBPM 5, still under review if you are interested in participating.
