JBoss AS has two variants. One is a community edition which is free to use and one is a paid version known as JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP). The JBoss EAP version has the "production" server configuration. The documentation that you pointed to was the documentation of the community edition which doesn't have the "production" server config. Ideally, the community doc too should not have any references to the "production" config. I did a quick check of that doc http://docs.jboss.org/jbossas/docs/Installation_And_Getting_Started_Guide/5/html/The_JBoss_Server___A_Quick_Tour.html#The_JBoss_Server___A_Quick_Tour-Server_Configurations and couldn't find any references to "production". Can you point us to the link which has the reference?
