Hi Marco,
the things is that ManualTask was (most likely) not finished once 4.3 was release. It does nothing but (in my opinion) should forward the execution to the next activity. That's why your process suddenly ends.
Please open an issue in jira for this, this is rather simple thing to do so I could provide a patch with some test cases for it.
