I am trying to set up a simple rewrite rule to route queries from {ourdomain}/ugly/path to {ourdomain}/cool/newpath, but I'm getting null pointer exceptions and deployment failures from JBoss when I put the line <Valve classname="org.jboss.web.rewrite.RewriteValve" /> in jboss-web.deployer/server.xml. Is this because we're using an old version of JBoss (4.2.2GA)? If so, is there anything I can do to patch the problem? Upgrading JBoss is not an option at this time because of compatibility issues.
