As per scheduling on JIRA, 4.0.0.Beta1 is going to be the next release. There's no plan to produce any 3.4.x any more.
I'm currently working on moving to Apache CXF 2.4.0, not sure yet if that will go to 4.0.0.Beta1 or a later release.
