Hi guys,
I just saw this on eclipse-dev where SWT Browser is being suggested to be updated.
" (new) SWT browser currency. Significant work is required in the SWT browser widget
to support the latest browser runtimes. As part of this effort we will add browser support
for XULRunner 17. We will also investigate supporting WebKit on Windows based on the
Chromium CEF3 project. [SWT] (405029, 405031)"
What does that mean for us ?
If they do this without contiuing to support older Xulrunners we could have problems,
right?
webkit/chromium sounds like a good thing for us.

XULRunner 17 is useless for VPE, because it does not have JavaXPCOM
bindings.
Support of Chromium CEF3 would be very useful for BrowserSim, especially on
Windows (now we use Safari which is not supported by Apple anymore). And if
they add JavaScript debugging support, BrowserSim would get the most
missing piece. The dark side of CEF3 support is that we will need to ship
it with our plugins.

Right, but I do not think they are going to drop support of XULRunner 1.9.
They already support several versions of XULRunner, adding one more version
should not be a problem for them.

great - lets get involved on https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=405031 and
ask into those things. I assume you would like they provide api to enable/disable
javascript debugging support and other features ? Lets speak up and see how they
react and if possible do PR's for it.
About bundling CEF3 then we have bundle xulrunner for years thus I think
bundling CEF3 (unless its a monster download? :) is ok too - especially
if it will give us a working browsersim on some of the platforms we don't
support yet.
