Basically, as you can get from the changes for JBWS-2765 and JBWS-2836, the doc there was out of date as the referred configuration file was not installed in recent jbossws-cxf versions. Well, omitting the stack and bundle Apache CXF 2.2.2 with my webapp (including Spring 2.5.6.SEC01) works for now. By far not my favorite solution altough. Please look at http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/JBossWS-SupportedTargetContainers. IOW you need at least JBoss AS 4.2.2. We did not try JBossWS-CXF with any previous AS version; if you want to do this on your own, consider you might come to integration issues whose solution could take more time than simply migrating to a recent AS version. Hi, I am trying to create a web service in jboss 4.0.5 GA? I didn't find any way to do tht. I sucessfully created a web service with jboss5.0.1GA with jbossWS-cxf 3.2.1GA install on it. Is jbossWS-cxf 3.2.1GA can be install on jboss 4.0.5 GA? If No which version of jbossWS-cxf is applicable to jboss 4.0.5 GA? Hi there, I see you've found a solution to this by using stack, but you could also solve this issue by keeping Apache CXF core configuration. I came across the same issue today and found a simple solution. Here's the long story shorted. I'm used to develop a service with Tomcat as a simple runner first. So I started creating my service following Apache CXF's "how-to" pages, ending up with : - a file named /WEB-INF/beans.xml describing my endpoint and my Spring application context. - a web.xml file referencing this Spring context configuration file this way : | <context-param> | <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> | <param-value>WEB-INF/alpha-beans.xml</param-value> | </context-param> | It worked well with Tomcat, but when deployed to JBoss, the XML parsing fails with the stack you showed us in a previous post, something like : Caused by: javax.inject.DefinitionException: import not a Java type So I started looking for the 'import' word in my xml files and guess what I found very quickly. There are some imports done in the context configuration file to reference CXF xml files located in the jars. If you followed Apache CXF "how-to" section you're more than likely to have them in your "beans.xml" file. You should see something like this : | <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf.xml" /> | <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-extension-soap.xml" /> | <import resource="classpath:META-INF/cxf/cxf-servlet.xml" /> | So I commented these just to see what it would change in Jboss' behaviour. It did and it was now crashing on the word 'bean'. (which at the moment was the first uncommented tag of the "beans.xml" file). Caused by: javax.inject.DefinitionException: bean not a Java type >From that I understood I could not use the reserved name "beans.xml" in my war and renamed this file to "alpha-beans.xml". I also changed the reference to this file in the web.xml like this : | <context-param> | <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> | <param-value>WEB-INF/alpha-beans.xml</param-value> | </context-param> | and it did the trick perfectly. We plan to have the first release of 3.3.x in Q1 2010, I'd say not before March 2010 (http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/JBossWSRoadmap) and yes, if you're interested in this, your help would probably be interesting and accepted. Perhaps you could start looking at the integration project structure [1] while we start thinking about the way to go (RestEasy or not) next week or so. Salve Alessio, come va ? We have been playing around with JAX-RS and trying to make it work in JBoss for two days (and we got almost nowhere - and keep getting all sorts of exceptions: http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=163683 amongst other errors). I think something like your post should go in a very prominent location in the documentation (there is almost nothing mentioned on the JBoss site - or did we miss it ?). As energetic developers, we found the version of the Apache CXF included in the jbossws stack and tried to follow the Apache CXF documentation reasoning that anything supported by APpache CXF will be available through JBoss - and hence JAX RS 1.0. Maybe we were over-zealous. Alessio, what kind of timelines are you looking at for JBossWS 3.3.x ? I am personally interested in this. Is there anything I can do to help you out ?
