Tom Baeyens commented on JBPM-1372:
-----------------------------------
what is the purpose of the installer ? i see 3 potential targets:
1) deploy a jbpm installation into a version of jboss. what are all the things that the
installer should do?
* add a jBPM queue to the JMS message service ?
* add a jPDL DB
* populate jPDL DB with example processes
* add identity DB
* populate identity DB with example users
* configure a security domain
* put the deployment artifact (the war?) in the deploy folder
this is what we now have in an ant target somewhere. given that this is part of the
simply unzippable suite distribution, i don't really see the urgent need for this.
2) install the jpdl-suite in a file system, which includes the jpdl lib, sources, docs, a
preconfigured jbpm server and the eclipse plugin
currently this is just unzipping the distribution. so i don't see the need for an
installer here
3) installing the gpd into an existing eclipse installation. i think the eclipse update
mechanism would be better for that. currently we have a feature distribution package that
can just be unzipped in an eclipse. Koen is now working together with Kris on a joint new
designer. That seems to be working great. In the meantime, the problem with the
milestone versions of the designer dependencies has disappeared. So in this new designer,
the standard eclipse versioning mechanism can and will be used.
Verify that IzPack based distribution is complete
