Tom Baeyens resolved JBPM-1974.
-------------------------------
Resolution: Done
avoiding overlap is not possible. not with bpmn, and not with any other bpm/workflow
technology. the only thing that we can try is to pick the most clear concepts that match
best with the common understanding.
in this specific case, the bpmn term of FlowObject is really unclear. ask any developer
on the street what that is and you'll probably see a question mark on his/her face.
where as the general term of an activity in bpm and workflow context is much more
understood.
rename node to activity
-----------------------
Key: JBPM-1974
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBPM-1974
Project: JBoss jBPM
Issue Type: Task
Security Level: Public(Everyone can see)
Components: PVM
Reporter: Tom Baeyens
Assignee: Tom Baeyens
Priority: Critical
Fix For: jBPM 4.0.0 Alpha2
i have noticed last release when writing the docs that a lot of confusion can arise in
terminology between node and activity. most beginning users are only concerned with the
concept that combines node and activity.
much more natural it would be to have a model that exists of activities and flows. and
activities have a behaviour. that prevents the confusion.
this way an activity will refer to the model element, as well as to the combination of
the model element and the behaviour.
