I think instead of
java.util.TimeZone.getDefault()
the following should be used:
FacesContext.getViewRoot().getLocale()
The first is the server time timezone, the second the clients. The latter is better
(especially if servers are deployed at the other side of the world
display non GMT+0 time zones
