All DeltaSpike quickstarts declare some unused APIs.
If there's no specific reason to keep them, I suggest removing them, for the sake of best practices.
A reason to keep some of them might be compatibility with JBDS which enables or disables some features based on the (non)presence of API dependencies.

If we decide that DS quickstarts should not depend on unused APIs, it might be worth applying this decision to all quickstarts, I have only checked the DeltaSpike ones.
