Ron Šmeral commented on Bug JDF-206

Sande,

thanks for the clarification. I have to say, this whole example-settings problem is definitely a minor one, but I still see the structure of the README (the Configure Maven section) as not addressing the right concern. I'll try to be more clear:
The first sentence of the "Configure Maven" section says:

Maven configuration is dependent on whether you are running JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6 or JBoss AS7.

That is not true. The user can download the community quickstarts and run them on both EAP6 and AS7 (with the Maven settings containing just central), and the same way, a customer can get the productized quickstarts and run them on both EAP6 and AS7 (with the supplied example-settings.xml). This implies that the Maven configuration is not dependent on the server used but on the type of quickstarts distribution used (community vs. product).
That's why I think the current wording is confusing. The one scenario which definitely leads to confusion is a customer who is trying the community quickstarts (for any reason) and tries to run them on his EAP6. He is instructed to use the example-settings.xml from the quickstarts root, which simply isn't there.
So my suggestion for the README text is something along the lines of

Maven configuration is dependent on whether you are using the community version of quickstarts or the product version.
