Attempted to workaround this through the use of the listing Latex package, but either my knowledge of Latex is limited, or this package cannot be used with the altt one (dblatex seemed to crash without reporting any error, since no PDF was generated in this case).
Dan Allen suggested using FOP, given that the PressGang team has managed to work around some of the syntax highlighting issues involving PDFs.
