I intentionally left it in because I thought it useful enough to keep as
a plain-ole context-param.  Do you really think we should pull it out?

Yes. I would prefer not to add to our already overly-complex set of context parameters if we can avoid it. Since we have a much cleaner alternative available now, this should be removed.
