Catch up on the exciting news from JBoss World!
Each year Red Hat brings together many of the world's top open source
and technology thought leaders at the Red Hat Summit and JBoss World to
discuss solutions for global business and technology challenges across
platform, middleware, virtualization, and cloud computing. The three
day event features keynote addresses, sessions, interactive
discussions, product demos, and hands-on labs centered on how to
deliver optimal results utilizing open source products and
technologies. It was very exciting to see over 3,000 people from around
the globe in attendance!
It was a busy and exciting week for the JBoss team as we launched five
products, introduced JBoss Data Grid 6 (the newest member of the JBoss
enterprise middleware portfolio), held a live demo of BRMS 5.3 in front
of a standing room only crowd, and announced our intention to acquire
FuseSource from Progress Software. In case you missed the event, here
are the highlights:
[8]JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6
JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6 is a cloud-ready,
market-leading enterprise platform for next generation, highly
transactional enterprise Java applications. It features a new
cloud-ready architecture, new and improved management capabilities, and
upgraded and significantly enhanced usability. The great news for
customers? Decreased time-to-market for application delivery and
reduced operational costs.
[9]JBoss Data Grid 6
Red Hat JBoss Data Grid 6 is a managable, highly available, distributed
key/value store that provides relational caching, elastic scaling, and
in-memory performance for compute-intensive and easily scalable
workloads. It’s designed to help enterprises reduce the need for
relational databases and scale application development for better big
data management.
[10]JBoss Enterprise BRMS 5.3
JBoss Enterprise BRMS 5.3 is a comprehensive platform for the
development and automation of business processes, including integrated
support for Business Rules Management, Business Process Management
(BPM) and Complex Event Processing (CEP). It enables full automation of
mission-critical procedures and policies and real-time detection and
response to business events. Now the power of IT can be in the hands of
the business user.
[11]JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform 5.3 (ESB) and [12]JBoss Enterprise
Data Services Platform 5.3
JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform 5.3 and JBoss Enterprise Data Services
Platform 5.3 offer a host of new features designed to make it easier
for organizations to use data intelligently and develop integration
solutions more effectively. As part of Red Hat's integration platform
they, along with JBoss Enterprise BRMS 5.3, complement the recently
announced [13]JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6 by providing
intelligent decision and event processing and data integration to
applications running on that solution. In particular, JBoss Enterprise
SOA Platform 5.3 enables JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6
applications, both in the cloud or on-premise, to be integrated into
other applications and business processes.
[14]FuseSource acquisition announcement
On June 27 Red Hat announced that it has signed a definitive agreement
to acquire FuseSource from Progress Software Corporation. FuseSource, a
provider of open source integration and messaging, will enable Red Hat
to accelerate the delivery of application integration products and
services to enterprise customers. FuseSource serves many Fortune 500
companies with open source integration and open source messaging
products based on Apache ServiceMix, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache CXF, and
Apache Camel. Through the FuseSource acquisition, we will enhance
capabilities within JBoss integration software and expect that Camel
will be instrumental to simplifying integration for cloud and
on-premise deployments. According to Craig Muzilla, vice president and
general manager of middleware at Red Hat, “application integration
software is one of the fastest growing segments of the enterprise
software market. As cloud computing becomes more prevalent, enterprise
customers are demanding greater application integration to enable
seamless use of cloud computing. With the addition of FuseSource to our
middleware portfolio, we will enable customers to experience greater
integration capabilities and flexibility. FuseSource’s technologies,
expertise, and commitment to open source make them a great fit.” More
information will be made available after the acquisition closes.
[15]JBoss World keynote address
In front of an enormous, enthusiastic crowd JBoss World was kicked off
by Craig Muzilla, VP and General Manager of middleware, and Mark
Little, Sr. Director of JBoss engineering. They discussed the future of
middleware, the recent JBoss product launches, and interviewed two
JBoss customers live on the stage. In addition, there was an exciting
live demonstration of the all new JBoss BRMS 5.3 that included audience
