I'm in the process of working through "unassigned" bug issues. At the least, I investigate and respond with questions. At best, I fix something. Either way, in most cases I assign the issue to myself. Currently, there are 44 open Bug issues with Affects Version >= 3.0.Final that aren't assigned to me:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/RESTEASY-1353?filter=12326909&jql=project%20%3D%20RESTEASY%20AND%20issuetype%20%3D%20Bug%20AND%20status%20in%20%28Open%2C%20%22Coding%20In%20Progress%22%2C%20Reopened%29%20AND%20resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20AND%20affectedVersion%20in%20%283.0.1.Final%2C%203.0.10.Final%2C%203.0.11.Final%2C%203.0.12.Final%2C%203.0.13.Final%2C%203.0.14.Final%2C%203.0.15.Final%2C%203.0.16.Final%2C%203.0.2.Final%2C%203.0.3.Final%2C%203.0.4.Final%2C%203.0.5.Final%2C%203.0.6.Final%2C%203.0.7.Final%2C%203.0.8.Final%2C%203.0.9.Final%29%20AND%20assignee%20in%20%28EMPTY%2C%20bill.burke%2C%20weinanli%29%20ORDER%20BY%20created%20DESC%2C%20cf[12310742]%20ASC%2C%20updatedDate%20DESC
I will keep working on them with the ultimate goal of eliminating them. For the ones where I pose a question and put them into "waiting" mode, I think I'll impose a timeout of maybe a couple of months, and close them if there's no response.
In the future, I propose that we make the Default Assignee "Unassigned", which removes any possible ambiguity.
-Happy Weekend
