This becomes less of an issue when we move to openshift, however we still need to clean up
showcase configuration, but a lower priority.

Showcase contains two very different configurations - local runs are done with
'server' state saving methods and use annotations while GAE configuration uses
'client' state saving with XML-based configuration. This is causing problems in
showcase development/testing.
