I set the compiler compliance to 5.0, but the generated classes to 1.4.  The only catch is that I also have to set the Source compatibility to 1.4 as well.  Hence the error still occurs.

compatibility to 1.4?  The plugin needs a 5.0 compliant parser, but it
can generate 1.4 compliant class files.  The errors in the rules
should then disappear.
