Regarding Barry's question, I didn't profiled this specific case. My answer would be, they should consume aprox the same amount of permgen. But this again is an answer based on my knowledge of the compiler, and not on actual profiling.

    And yes, disabling shadow fact does help with permgen too, as well as overall memory consumption. Just make sure you follow the requirements detailed in the 4.0.7 documentation and in our blog before you disable shadow facts or you may end up with inconsistent results.

    We intent to release 4.0.7 this monday. As you have seen in a previous e-mail by me, we want to make 4.0.7 as best as it can be, in order to avoid if possible a  4.0.8 release.  This way, we had some extra delays fixing a few issues reported by the community in the next few days.
