Unfortunately we use http://jexcelapi.sourceforge.net/ to parse Excel files. This only supports up to Office 2003.

One day in a galaxy far, far away we do intend to move to Apache POI: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBRULES-3549 that supports XLSX.
