The docs[1] say that one should use

for development and
<script type=3D"text/javascript" src=3D"seam/resource/remoting/resource/rem=
ote.js?compress=3Dtrue"></script>
for production, however, the compress parameter seems to default to "true" =
as both URLs give me the same result.

Therefore, the docs should say:

ote.js"></script> - production environment - compress enabled
<script type=3D"text/javascript" src=3D"seam/resource/remoting/resource/rem=
ote.js?compress=3Dfalse"></script> - development mode - compress disabled
